Clean looks with cassette protection

With wall-face mounting, the Fetuna cassette closes around the fabric and folding-arm mechanism when retracted. With soffit/undermount or custom L-bracket mounting, the rear of the cassette remains open. Fetuna is custom-manufactured in New Zealand using aluminium and stainless-steel components.

Fully enclosed cassette

Fabric and working parts tuck away inside the cassette when the awning is closed.

Large coverage

Up to 7 m wide on selected projections, or up to 6 m wide with a 4 m projection.

Three mounting types

Wall face, soffit/undermount or custom L-shape brackets depending on your structure.

Operation

manual, Dooya or Somfy

Motorised awnings are supplied with the selected motor and remote. Fixed mains electrical connection is arranged separately.

Manual awnings: the canvas must always roll over the top of the roller tube. If it starts rolling underneath, the awning has been wound past full extension and is operating in reverse. Stop and reverse the crank direction before continuing; leaving it this way can damage the canvas and mechanism.

Fetuna Measuring Guide

Check the finished awning width, projection, mounting position and available structure before ordering.

Width

Enter the overall finished awning width in millimetres. Measure the clear mounting span and allow for downpipes, lights, windows, doors and other obstructions.

Projection

Choose 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500 or 4000 mm. Longer projections require a larger minimum width, which the calculator checks automatically.

Mounting type

Choose wall face, soffit/undermount or custom L-shape brackets. Confirm there is suitable structural material for every required mounting bracket.

Mounting height

Allow sufficient height for the awning pitch and usable headroom at the front. Longer projections generally need a higher mounting position.

Control side

Left/right is selected while standing outside and looking at the awning.

Operation

Choose manual crank, standard Dooya automation or premium Somfy automation. Fetuna awnings wider than 6000 mm use Somfy because higher-torque motor options are required for the larger size.

Installation

Fetuna Installation Guide

Fetuna awnings are heavy and require suitable structural fixing. Structural screws, bolts and anchors are not supplied because the correct fixings depend on the supporting structure. The full PDF covers face and soffit bracket positioning, mounting, pitch adjustment, motor limits and final checks.

Prepare structure

Confirm adequate structural fixing, check every component is present and keep the folding-arm packaging/restraints in place until all mounting hardware has been checked and tightened.

Position brackets

Keep brackets level and aligned. Position them with the arm-bracket locations in mind, with a mounting bracket approximately 50 mm from an arm bracket where practicable.

Mount + set pitch

Place the awning square bar into the brackets and tighten the retaining bolts, then extend the awning to check fabric tracking and free arm movement. Adjust pitch so the front bar remains level.

Test operation

Check all fasteners, test full extension/retraction and confirm the front bar remains level. For motorised awnings, set and test limits and any wind sensor before completion.

FAQs

Fetuna Cassette questions

What is a cassette awning?

A cassette awning encloses the fabric and mechanism when retracted. That keeps the working parts cleaner and better protected between uses.

Is the cassette fully enclosed?

With wall-face mounting, the rear of the cassette is closed against the wall and the fabric/mechanism are enclosed when retracted. With soffit/undermount or custom L-bracket mounting, the rear of the cassette remains open.

What makes Fetuna different from an open awning?

Fetuna closes into a fully enclosed cassette, giving the awning a cleaner architectural finish and protecting the fabric, arms and mechanism when it is retracted.

How large can the Fetuna be?

The online range supports widths up to 7000 mm on selected projections. A 4000 mm projection is available up to 6000 mm wide. The calculator rejects combinations that are outside the supplied size/price schedule.

Why are some width/projection combinations unavailable?

Longer folding arms require a greater minimum width. The calculator checks the minimum geometry and the available pricing bracket before allowing the order.

What operation options can I choose?

Choose a manual crank, standard Dooya automation or premium Somfy automation. Motorised options are supplied with a remote; fixed mains electrical connection is arranged separately.

Why is Somfy required over 6 m?

Somfy offers higher-torque motor options suited to larger awnings, so Fetuna widths over 6000 mm are supplied with Somfy automation.

Can I add a wind sensor?

Yes. Dooya and Somfy can use a battery-powered motion sensor that retracts the awning when movement caused by wind exceeds the set sensitivity. It is an aid only and must not be relied on solely — the awning should still be supervised and retracted in unsuitable conditions.

What fabric is used?

The online Fetuna range uses Docril canvas in a choice of plain colours and stripes. Docril carries a 10-year UV warranty.

What frame colours can I choose?

Warm White Pearl, Silver Pearl and Matt Charcoal are the standard online colours. Custom powder coating is also available.

How can Fetuna be mounted?

Choose wall face, soffit/undermount or custom L-shape brackets. Wall-face brackets are included; additional bracket charges are calculated for soffit and custom-bracket installations.

Does the cassette improve product life?

It protects the fabric and working mechanism from direct exposure when the awning is closed, helping keep the system cleaner and reducing exposure to sun, rain and airborne dirt between uses.

Does it provide rain protection?

It can provide shelter from light rain at a suitable pitch, but it is primarily a retractable sunshade and should not be treated as a permanent rain roof.

Should I retract it in strong wind?

Yes. Retractable awnings should be closed in strong winds and severe weather. The optional motion sensor is only an additional safeguard and should never be relied on as the sole protection.

Can I install it myself?

The awning is heavy and the brackets carry substantial loads. DIY installation requires suitable structure, appropriate fixings and safe lifting/access. Use a competent tradesperson if you are unsure about the structure, bracket mounting or electrical work.

Fetuna or Ellipse?

Choose Fetuna if you want the fabric and mechanism fully enclosed when retracted and a more premium cassette finish. Ellipse is the simpler open-style option and offers extras such as adjustable pitch and a protection hood.
